Spooked: The Ghosts of Waverly Hills Sanatorium Movie Review

In 2005 a movie called Death Tunnel came out in theatres directed and produced by the Booth Brothers. The movie was about your typical teens go to a supposed haunted place and play pranks on one another however it all turns bad and people die and one lives blah blah blah usual stuff. Now the only way out of this Haunted Hospital was through this Death Tunnel…hence the name what a shocker I know, that used to carry the dead out of the hospital. Now what the movie going audience didn’t know is that this was based off of true events. You see this Death Tunnel was located at Waverly Hills sanatorium located in Kentucky and this shot Waverly Hills into stardom and now has been featured on every single ghost hunting show out there and is seriously immersed into the paranormal culture. This is a place that all paranormal investigators want to go take on.

Now Spooked is not really a making of documentary of the movie Death Tunnel as much as it is really a movie about the paranormal events that took place during the making of the film. It shows and discusses the numerous events we have seen on all the ghost hunting shows out there…shadow people, little girl laughing, moving toys/balls on level floors with no wind, babies and women crying, etc etc etc.

There are parts of this paranormal movie documentary that drag, but it is interesting to hear the stories from the producers, directors, actors and crew of the film. To hear their personal experiences when making this film made you believe that this stuff did in fact happen. These people were pretty much skeptics and stories that had heard about Waverly Hills was from the owners and a couple staff members, but keep in mind this was well before the movie had come out and launched Waverly Hills into the international paranormal stardom that it is currently. So these people could have easily written of the stories and chalked it up to classic fire side stories.
The other thing is they conduct actual interviews with former patients and workers of Waver Hills back when it was a TB hospital. That in itself was interesting to hear and watch as they shared thier experiences as well.

If you haven’t seen this film then I recommend you checking it out and judging for yourself, it’s one of those things that if you are into paranormal then you should watch this film.

Be safe and watch out for TB,
Jon Bolton
